As a pioneer in the growth of
Haidong Gumdo in the United States and around the world, our
Academy is dedicated to expansion of Haidong Gumdo. We
continue to spread knowledge about Haidong Gumdo at numerous
venues and events.
Sequence of events in our school's Haidong Gumdo history:
July 15, 2000 -
Master Ralph, the only student from New York to promote with
eleven students from the Mid-West region on the first blackbelt
promotion held in the United States. Promoted by President Jeong
Ho Kim and Vice President Jeong Seung Kim of the World Haidong
Gumdo Federation in Korea.
July 15, 2000 - Demonstration by first USA black
belt promotes at Lincoln Land Community College, Illinois.
July 22, 2000 -
Started Haidong Gumdo classes at Estrada TaeKwonDo / Haidong
Gumdo Academy
Sept/Oct 2000 - Trained and received recognition
of first USA group to receive black belts in Haidong Gumdo
at the World Haidong Gumdo
Headquarters in Korea.
June 30, 2001 - Invited ten masters and sensei’s
from Taekwondo, Karate-Kenpo and Jui-jitsu styles to watch
Haidong Gumdo demonstration at Estrada
Taekwondo/Haidong Gumdo Academy.
July 17, 2001 - Master Dong Jin Park, Master
Estrada’s Haidong Gumdo master visited Estrada Haidong Gumdo
Academy and gave special training to the children and adult
gumdo students.
Nov 25, 2001 - Haidong gumdo demonstration at
Pena’s 1st Taekwondo Championships held in Manhattan, New York
City.
Mar 3, 2002 - Haidong Gumdo demonstration at
Williams New Jersey Challenge Taekwondo Championships- St.
Peter’s College, Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Mar 23, 2002 - Haidong Gumdo demo at Delaware
State Open Martial Arts Championships, Dover High School, Dover, Delaware.
Apr 10, 2002 - Demo at Children’s Expo at Nassau
Coliseum, Long Island, NY, sponsored by Radio Disney.
Apr 11, 2002 - Haidong Gumdo demo for President
Jeong Ho Kim, Vice President Kim and Master Park on their
first visit to Estrada Haidong Gumdo Academy, Long Island, New
York.
Apr 11, 2002 - Received special award of
recognition from President Jeong Ho Kim from the World
Haidong Gumdo Federation-Korea.
June 6, 2002 - President Jeong Ho Kim’s second
visit to Estrada Taekwondo/Haidong Gumdo Academy with KBS Korean
Broadcasting Station to interview and film the students training
for a documentary to be televised in Korea.
June 7, 2002 - Attended special Masters training
seminar taught by Master Dong J. Park and supervised by
Pres. Jeong Ho Kim and filmed by KBS television Crew. In
attendance were masters from New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
July 22-31, 2002 - Attended the 1st World Haidong
Gumdo Championships and special training with Masters from
U.S.A., Mexico, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, England and Canada.
Nov 10, 2002 - Haidong Gumdo demonstration at Mad
Dog Taekwondo school, Bayshore, New York
Jan 1, 2003 - Haidong Gumdo demonstration at the
Big Apple Taekwondo Gold Medal Classics at John Jay College-New
York City.
Apr 12, 2003 - Haidong Gumdo demonstration team
competed at Delaware State Open Martial Arts Championships and
received Grand Championship trophy, Dover High School, Dover,
Delaware.
June 8, 2003 - Master
Ralph promoted to 2nd Degree in Haidong Gumdo. Estrada
TaeKwonDo / Haidong Gumdo Academy has first Black Belt promotion
in Haidong Gumdo
December 2003 - Second
1st Dan promotion in Haidong Gumdo
Apr 24, 2004 - Haidong Gumdo demonstration team
competed for the second time at the Delaware State Open Martial
Arts Championships and received
Grand Championship trophy.
May 1, 2004 - Master
Ralph promoted to 3rd degree Black Belt in Haidong Gumdo
June 21, 2004 - Demonstration and Seminar, hosted
by Master Donohue, at Shin’s Taekwondo-Chung Do Kwon in
Hicksville, NY
June 2004 - Third 1st

July 20-30, 2004 - Attended the 2nd World Haidong
Gumdo Championships and special training with Masters from
U.S.A., Australia, Netherlands, France,
Canada, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, England and Germany.
August 4, 2004 - Started Masters Training Program
for Master Pam of Pam’s Taekwondo in Selden, NY; Master Donohue of Shin’s Tae Kwon Do-
Chung Do Kwon in Hicksville, NY; and Mr. Ward of ATA in
Ronkonkoma, NY
Sept 11, 2004 - Demonstration at M.K. Kim's Tang
Soo Do-Karate Championships at Charlotte, North Carolina.
October 8, 2004 - 4th
1st Dan Black Belt promotion in Haidong Gumdo
December 2004 - Master Ralph Estrada appointed chairman
of the Aruba (Dutch Caribbean) Haidong Gumdo association
December 2004 - January 2005
- Seminar and Masters Training program started to establish the
Aruba Haidong Gumdo Association for Aruba (Dutch
Caribbean).
March 20, 2005
- Master Estrada promoted to chief master by President Jeong Ho
Kim of the World Haidong Gumdo Federation. Fifth 1st Dan
Black Belt promotion and the first 2nd Dan Black Belt promotion
in Haidong Gumdo. Special two man fighting demo by Tyrek
Foulke and Qasim Ellis for President Jeong Ho Kim, Vice President Jeong Seung Kim,
masters, students and spectators at the black belt promotion.
May 21, 2005
- Demonstration at 2005 Dragon Yong-In Martial Arts Exhibition
Tournament hosted by Master Kwan Hyoung Jo at Leesburg,
Virginia.
June 3, 2005
- Demonstration at Ward A.T.A. Karate in Ronkonkoma, Long Island,
New York
July 16, 2005 -
Kyosahnims John Ziti and Chris Wiggins competed in the 2005
Canada Haidong Gumdo Open held in Moncton, Canada.
Kyosahnim Ziti obtained first place in forms, first place in
candle snuffing and second place in cutting. Kyosahnim
Wiggins obtained second place in forms, third place in cutting
and third place in candle snuffing.
July 16, 2005 - Sensei
Laurita from Arizona traveled to the Estrada Haidong Gumdo
Academy for training with Master Ralph Estrada.
October 2, 2005 - Demonstration at Lindenhurst
Rotary Club Octoberfest in Lindenhurst Village, Long Island, New
York.
November 5, 2005 - Demonstration at 16th Annual
N.A.K.F. Karate Championships at St. Vincent College, Latrobe,
Pennsylvania.
November 12, 2005 - Sixth 1st Dan Black Belt
promotion in Haidong Gumdo.
March 11, 2006 - Demonstration hosted by Master
Kuns at Iron Dragon Fitness and Self Defense, Middletown, New
York.
April 7, 2006 - Demonstration at the Black Belt
Extravaganza hosted by Master Donohue at Shin's Taekwondo,

Demonstration at Lindenhurst Rotary Club Springfest in
Lindenhurst Village, Long Island, New York
July 26-28, 2006 - Attendance at 3rd Haidong Gumdo
Championships in Gangwon Province, South Korea.
August 10-11, 2006 - Demonstration at Our Lady of
Assumption's street fair in Copiague, New York
September 2, 2006 - Master Michael Simmons, owner
and Master Instructor of Ultimate Studio Martial Arts located in
Bronx, New York - the newest student in the Master's Haidong
Gumdo Training Program - competed in the U.S.K.B.A. Championship
in Rahway, New Jersey competing in the Weapons Division
performing Haidong Gumdo forms and won Grand Champion having
competed against Longfist Kung Fu, Shotokan Karate, mixed martial
arts karate, bo-staff and Chinese Broad Sword.
October 15, 2006 - Demonstration at New York State
Martial Arts Championships held at SUNY Farmingdale Campus,
Farmingdale, New York.
December 3, 2006 - Seventh 1st Dan Black Belt
Promotion in Haidong Gumdo.
January 3, 2007 - Chief Master Ralph Estrada trained
Master Melissa Noguera and two of her students: Stephanie
Solognier, Jamison Kock in Aruba
February 14-20, 2007 - Chief Master Ralph Estrada
trained Master Chonfa in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
February 25, 2007 - Chief Master Ralph Estrada gave a
seminar in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to 6 masters, 24 black belt
instructors and 35 colored belts from various areas of Puerto
Rico. President Jeong Woo Kim established and welcomed
Master Raymond (Chonfa) Delgado from Arecibo to the Puerto Rico
Haidong Gumdo Association.
The Puerto Rico Haidong Gumdo Association was established by
President Jeong Woo Kim of the World Haidong Gumdo Federation in
Korea
March 17-18, 2007 - Eighth 1st Dan, Second 2nd Dan
and First 3rd Dan Black Belt Promotions in Haidong Gumdo.
May 6, 2007 - Demonstration at Lindenhurst Rotary
Club Springfest in
Lindenhurst Village, Long Island, New York.
May 17-25, 2007 - Chief Master Ralph Estrada was
invited to attend the first Master's Training Seminar for
overseas masters in Gangwon Province, South Korea. Chief
Master Estrada participated in the Judging Seminar, Master's
Seminar, as well as trained with 300 Korean masters which
training included review of the testing requirements for colored
and black belts, sword fighting drills, bamboo and straw
cutting.
July 7, 2007 - Demonstration at the 1st
Annual North East Open Martial Arts Tournament held at the
Albany Marriott, Albany, NY.- amongst other styles which
included Traditional Lion Dance, Brazilian Maculele Stick Dance,
Olympic Tae Kwon Do Sparring, Small Circle JuJitsu, and Capoeira.
Lead by Kyosahnim Jennifer Barbaro, Team Estrada placed first in the Team Traditional Weapons forms
competition.
September 22, 2007 - Ninth 1st Dan and Third 2nd
Dan Black Belt Promotions in Haidong Gumdo.
March 15, 2008 -
Demonstration at the 12th Annual Delaware State Open Martial
Arts Tournament held in Dover, Delaware.
March 29, 2008 - First Fourth Dan Black Belt
Promotion in Haidong Gumdo. Master Michael Simmons
promoted to 2nd Dan under the Master's Training Program.
April 4, 2008 - Demonstration at the Black Belt
Extravaganza hosted by Master Donohue held at SUNY Old Westbury.

Belt Promotions in Haidong Gumdo.
March 14, & 15, 2009
Grand Master Jeong Woo Kim (Director of Education in Korea/USA
Head Master) gave a
two day Masters Training Seminar at Estrada Taekwondo/Haidong
Gumdo Academy.
In attendance were Masters from the Bronx, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Upstate New York ( Rochester,
Albany, Wappingers Falls), and Long Island.
May 21 - 26, 2009
Master Estrada traveled to Puerto Rico to train Master Raymond (Chonfa)
Delgado. Master Estrada gave a
seminar at Poncho Vega Coliseum in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, hosted
by Master Delgado in attendance were 30 Masters and students.

- Demonstration at Pena's Annual Battle of Champions tournament
in Brentwood, NY
November 13-15, 2009
- Grand Master Jeong Woo Kim (Director of Education and
Korea/USA Head Master) visits Estrada Taekwondo/Haidong Gumdo
Academy to conduct student and Master seminars. Master's

April 17, 2010 - Master Jeffrey Asuncion
and Master Julio Lugo promoted to 1st Dan under the Master's
Training Program.

Martial Art Academy in Maryland to conduct Master seminars.
Master's Seminar attendees included masters from the East Coast
Region.
August 1-10, 2010
- Chief Master Estrada trained Master Raymond (Chonfa) Delgado
from the Puerto Rico Haidong Gumdo Association in New York.
Master Chonfa has returned from attending the 5th Haidong Gumdo
World Championships in South Korea. Master Delgado was
appointed as Representative of the Puerto Rico Haidong Gumdo
Association.
August 28, 2010
- Chief Master Estrada promoted Master Jeffrey Asuncion's
students in Matawan, New Jersey.
November 20-21, 2010 - Grand Master
Jeong Woo Kim (Director of Education in Korea/USA Head Master)
gave a two day Master's Seminar at Estrada Taekwondo/Haidong
Gumdo Academy. Masters in attendance were from Upstate New York,
Long Island, Bronx, NY, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, and
Canada. Also a separate Student's Seminar was held with over
25 students attending from various other Gumdo schools from the
Bronx, New Jersey, Virginia and Long Island.
Congratulations to Master Crespo and his three students on their
Blackbelt Testing to 1st Dan and also to Master Simmons, Ms.
Nicolls and Mr. Philips upon their promotion to 3rd Dan at the
Master's Promotion.
